A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi the swing arm is replaced with a purchased trike one. Then an axle usually from a small 3 wheeler,in this case a Reliant Robin,is fitted straight in, no probs.Chain drives are a bit more fiddley.they can be converted parts and all for around ?3,000
    Hey Wiz,

I down load my photos to photobucket. Once they are there, you can drag the cursor over the image, a box will appear with four choices. I use the bottom choice, I think it's called the image code. Copy the Image code and paste onto your post. I really not the one to ask. I could show you but I really don't know the proper terms with certianty. I right clicked on your image and pasted it to my post.

Hello Charlie, I am a new 81 GS450E owner ( First Bike). I bought a set of bridgestone battle ax tires rear 110/90-18 and front 100/80-18 and had a local shop install them. both tires had a problem with the tire seating centering on the rim. They told me ride them for a bit and they might smooth out. Said it is common for a tubeless tire on a tubed rim Any recommendations on brand of size of tire you use on yours. I don't want to purchase new tires again only to have the same problem. Thanks Tim

Hey Bill, Ya I'm leaving the 3rd of August for London. My daughter lives there. I'll visit with her a few days, rent a car and head up the west coast of England toward Scotland. I'm going to catch a ferry over to N. Ireland, meet Johnny and see the Dunrod and Ulster Grand prix. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. I have always wanted to go to England since I realized i had an English last name. I sure we'll post up some pictures. I just need to remember to take the information I'll need to access GSR. I hope to get up your way next summer on the way Kietchner, Ontario. Would be nice to meet. Cheers.

Sound's like you're going to UK this summer, visit Ireland and see some of their fabulous bike races? Marvelous, be sure to post some pics. Will you see Johnny Drummond?

Hi there from Canada, I was looking at the old forum posts and I came across your post about changing your oil seal on your pinion shaft. I was wondering if that rubber seal is easy to find at any bike shop or do I have to order it through the internet?
Was it as easy as it looked?
    O
Thanks, I've been using the name on the internet since I was a kid. I love it because no one else ever takes it. My GS550 is my absolute favorite bike ever. I can't even imagine a bike that I would enjoy more.

Your 450 looks really cool, I love that color.
The only adjustable part of the carb is the idle mixture adjustment screw, the one on top of the outlet. Start with that one between two and three turns out from lightly seated. Once the engine is running and warmed up, you can fine-tune those screws for highest engine speed, then reset your idle back to specs.

I sent a message to the administrator asking him how the group goes about replacing phaseman at the controls.
I expect he would contact the existing group members for their opinions before taking any action.
    D
I have sent email directly to phaseman and gotten no response. Hopefully, he is OK and has just lost interest.
Perhaps it's time to talk to the administrator about moving control of the group to someone else.
It has been nearly 2 months since I requested phaseman include me in the group.

i haven't seen him or talked to him in a bit. he hasn't called me so now clue what's up. i'll try to get ahold of him some time this weekend.

I'd like to join you folks in the PNW group but I can't get any response from Phaseman.
If anyone talks to him, could you ask him to check on my request to join?

    Thanks,

    Don
