When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

I think Trevor was trying to avoid more of this....A little food for thought as you tear across the desert.....Have the two of you thought of how unbelievably cool in every sense of the term it would have been doing that trip on the gs1100 and 1000s? Picture it.....Two old school bikes flashing across the vast desert toward a distant horizon..........Just bustin a bit.
Clearly you've chosen very good tools for the job, and I'm glad the trip is going well. Thanks for the incredible pictures.
Stay safe and enjoy.....some more

Although fun was had by all, it does cut into the riding time

Yes, it is a Garmin Nuvi 2595. I can't really recommend it for motorcycle use, it shuts down on occasion. It is a pita resetting it while riding. The Zumo range of Garmins are built for motorcycles and are more shock resistant, plus they're weatherproof.
I think the word for today's ride would be 'wind'! Real strong winds today made riding quite a chore at times. Thankfully we were in a lot of Nevada desert, that raised the pace of the ride considerably. (That fact is reflected in the max speed of today's GPS log.) We've had enough of the thin air of high elevations, so we're shooting for the California coast tomorrow. Hmm, time for some seafood maybe!
