Hacker Alert Lockout! on the Homepage - Why?

    administrator

Wondering why, whenever I click on the Homepage Link at the bottom right of the page, I get the -

    Hacker Alert Lockout!

instead of the Homepage. And it's not like I'm attempting a bunch of page loads in short succession.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

I seem to recall a notice about this something in the past.
This is only on my work PC.
On mobile, the Homepage link opens the Homepage.

No 'hacker alert lockout' for me, but I'll tell you what I just saw, and not for the first time. As I was logging in, a banner prompted me to "install" the GS Resources. I don't install anything on my phone, and the prompt disappeared shortly after I got in. But I've seen it before.

For some odd reason this website is a big target for international hackers trying to get onto our server (probably to plant a bot) or break into our database (to extract email addresses). This has been going on for quite a while and the hacks come from all over. China, Russia, Europe and the US. In order to stop us from being

I've not tried it but the vast majority of the time those "installs" are nothing more than a shortcut on your screen, you click it and it brings you here

Thanks David. I found that post while searching earlier on my work PC. I could see the post, but clicking on the link gave me a different type of error, again, on my work PC. I'm at home now on my windows laptop, and I can go to that link and I can go to the Homepage, no problem. Problem must be isolated to my work PC. I may try to PM Frank tomorrow and see if there's anything he can do.

I have no clue what that is. We don't install anything on anyone's anything...

So for those wondering what a Hacker Alert is, I'll give you the short story.

For years hackers have been trying to gain access to our server. You would think, who would give a rat's butt about hacking our website? But the answer would surprise you. Hack attempts have been made continuously, from every country you can imagine, ever since the site has been up. I know this because I track every IP that visits it.

One of the tricks they try to do in order to get in the server is to programmatically hammer the website as quick as they can to cause the server to break. Similar to a Denial Of Service (DOS) attack. So I have written code that is running in the background to keep the hackers away. This code will lock you out if you go flipping from page to page quickly within a specific period of time. This is probably the test that gets the most people locked. There are other tests that are going on but unless you trying to be skevy, you shouldn't run into them.

Now what I may do it put a link to the forum on the Hacker Alert page. That way you can send me a PM message to unlock your IP. Locking you out of the main website will not lock you out of the forum because it has it's own security code. In any case, if you find yourself locked out then send me a message via PM or email, along with your IP and I'll get you unlocked.
