The END is near (California guys)

CA has outlawed purchase of gasoline powered lawn devices (mowers, leaf blowers, etc) starting 2024, so haters like me, only have a few days left to get what they need for the future. I ordered a Toro commercial lawn mower today, with Kawasaki engine, and now I'm searching out a gas powered generator. Thinking Honda?

A battery powered electric generator? Am I the only one who doesn't understand that?

Yeah ..... It' not like there is any rush or anything ..... Climate scientists have Vancouver having San Diego weather by 2050 .... Unfortunately I'm a tad too old to be around to enjoy it ......

LOL! Only nut cases think that California, all by themselves, can impact global warming by outlawing gas lawn equipment. My mower, gets run about 20 times per year, for maybe 20 minutes each occasion. Charge me at the Hauge!

Only a nutcase would think individual actions by states, provinces, and countries by the entire planet isn't going to be the factor that swings things in the planets favour.... Unfortunately the world's supply of " California Thinking " is woefully absent ..... Makes no mind to me .... I'm seventy ..... The world doesn't have to hang around all that long for me ......

Why is this in the Campfire ? It's pretty obvious that California is taking this action as part of their climate change program .... A subject that is definitely controversial .......

By all means, let us all know when the land of liberal, Canada, outlaws the use of gasoline powered lawn equipment, and cars. We will all sing Kumbaya, and celebrate Canada's joining in "the good fight" in saving the planet!

cap, may not make it by 2050. I don't think the Global warming stuff, that Al Gore had predicted and made a movie about back in the early 2000's, are happening near as fast as he had thought they would. I remember the gist of Gore's predictions. By 2016, lower Manhattan being under water, MT Kilimanjaro being without it's snow cap, and no ice in the polar ice caps in the summer time, oceans boiling, If any of this has happened I must'v missed hearing about it. I've always thought I'd watch his movie, "An Inconvenient Truth" but just never got around to it yet... Like you ED, just rather not be forced into the elect. lawn mowers and leaf blowers. Shoot, nobody forced us into buying autos to replace out horses and wagons, we knew when we were ready.

Today's purchase: a Yamaha generator. I wanted a Honda, but they can't be sold in California, or maybe, the CA compliant units are all sold out. I think the Yamaha is a cut above most other cheap units. Hope so anyway.

Edit: gas generators are banned in 2028, so I didn't need to rush so much. Regardless, got one coming...

Existing ICE cars can be kept of course.

I remember my grandfather using an electric lawn mower because he didn't want to deal with an ICE one - also it was heaps quieter. Though that was a small one to push, not to sit on. Hence, extension cord. No batteries (No Li-Ion back then, so batteries were not an option anyway).

This is a classic example of what I call " The Joe Sixpack Response " ... And I've made a bundle on it in the past .....Joe Sixpack is highly predictable ..... When the Collingwood school shooting happened I immediately bought gun stocks and more than doubled my money in the following two quarters because I knew the government would be discussing gun control.... And if there is one thing I know about Joe Sixpack it is that his mantra is " No way that nasty old gubberment is going to tell me what to do ! " ..... And he predictably ran out to the gun store to buy as much crap as he could afford sending sales through the roof .....

Thanks for the reminder...to buy a gun. I want to get one before they are outlawed.
