Took this for the Pic-of-the-week game, but didn't end up using it. The theme is "moon" and I just didn't think the pic *clearly* says moon.
But I love the photo and am having a 12x18 print made.

Nice. Actually holding and looking at prints in real time and not on a screen is fun.

Some bird photos taken from my backyard.
For those that give a hoot, I'm using an old Canon 60d DSLR camera body. For these photos I used a Sigma 150-300mm lens. Super fast shutter speed because birds don't sit still.

Right? When shooting birds I tend to use almost a rapid fire technique with the shutter, so by the end I've got lots of photos. Generally only a handful are any good.

                        Yup....
Once or twice I set up my camera near the birdbath, and shot with the camera's remote app, on my phone, from inside the house.
Worked OK, but not very flexible...

I had to look in the book to sort out the juncos. The bird we see here is commonly called a slate coloured junco and I learned it is actually a color variation of the dark eyed junco species as are the birds in Rusty’s pic. The old book calls the birds in the pics Oregon juncos. Official names do change periodically.

Good photos. There are a few birders here.

Nice work Dave! Thanks for the info. I'll look further into this myself. I specifically purchased this lens for birding. Haven't really taken the leap yet though, just gettin my feet wet with some backyard bird photography.

Agreed, nice bird shots. I tried to get a pic of a squirrel having a snack last weekend but the camera focused on a stick in front of the squirrel making the squirrel blurry.

Practicing around home is extremely helpful. I was stuck home for three weeks earlier this year with Covid / covid related stuff so I goofed off with the camera in the the house and yard. When I finally got out, the practice definitely helped.
