Hey, here's an idea worth exploring! Instead of tearing into each other over their lack of historical accuracy how about seeing what the ACTUAL PEOPLE involved in a possibly historic event have to say in real time? "We couldn't do that, it might ruin our world view"

Hindsight as usual is 100%, the RAF was near collapse when the Luftwaffe changed the focus of it's attacks from airfields to city bombings. Had it finished off the RAF the RN would've been destroyed in the channel without air cover and the landings would've gone ahead.Originally posted by Gorminrider View Post+1. Stalin vs Churchill or FDR?-ha! No comparison whatsoever. None. Nada. Even Hitler needed all his Evil minions to hold a candle to Stalin.
As to beach-landings, they weren't a German forte. ...pretty hard to mount a blitzkreig from the beach especially without air superiority for which German fighter-planes didn't have the stamina .The landing-craft would have been a turkey-shoot for the R.N.1979 CBX, AW440 Maico, GS1150EF

Um, lots of not so logical slipping and sliding going on there.Originally posted by Cipher View Postwell then how many? not that its a measure of the men in charge. The wealthy industrialized empires of the US and UK simply did not have the problems of the USSR. your view is tainted by anti communist anti soviet propaganda.
Churchill gave the world Gallipoli and enslaved peoples and was a drunk while making decisions as Stalin was. Roosevelt was an elitist bastard dabbling in socialism who was only intent on the best interests of the US to the detriment of anyone else."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

Not exactly hindsight..speculation more like. No German fleet air arm so it's need a lot of Stukas trundlingover from France, bombers being not too great against ships. I speculate Hitler looked at it, threw his hands up and went with what he knew would work and what he wanted: Russia.Originally posted by wyly View PostHindsight as usual is 100%, the RAF was near collapse when the Luftwaffe changed the focus of it's attacks from airfields to city bombings. Beach landings were and are just plain difficult. As to Putin, a tricky suprise through the Ardennes isn't a possibility. Were he to attack, they'll be waiting for him.Last edited by Gorminrider; 02-03-2022, 12:01 PM.

Bismark was stopped by an airplane; The Japanese Navy was destroyed by air attacks, dive bombers, torpedo planes and bombers were the crucial anti ship weapons. Stukas were highly effective dive bombers but needed fighter air cover from allied fighters which the Luftwaffe failed to eliminate, based in Calais the 21 miles of channel it needed to cover was a easy ship killing field for the Stuka had it the required air cover to operate.Originally posted by Gorminrider View PostNot exactly hindsight..speculation more like. It is esculating…wtf???
Looking at the situation as it grows more dangerous I see 3 possibilities for how it may begin. How it ends? Lord have mercy…
Ukraine could choose to surrender to Russian annexation before invasion.
Ukraine could choose to fight a guerilla war after invasion, and become a disaster like the Syrian rebellion.
It is a test of commitment between Europe and Russia.
If Russia is fully committed to invasion in spite of European negotiations, it's time for NATO to let go with battlefield tactical nuclear weapons as they cross the Ukraine border in concentration before the Russian invasion forces disperse into Ukraine.
It's just too insane to hold back.
I don't know what will happen.Last edited by Buffalo Bill; 02-11-2022, 07:58 PM.1982 GS1100G-

Vlad the Poisoner will take what ever he wants, NATO will not get involved militarily. Will the Ukraine give him a fight he doesn't expect or will they roll over.Originally posted by Buffalo Bill View PostLooking at the situation as it grows more dangerous I see 3 possibilities for how it may begin. The sanctions that will be applied to Russia's economy will need to be crippling if they're to have an effect.1979 CBX, AW440 Maico, GS1150EF

Europe seems will do nothing. They're pragmatic about invasions after what, 6,000 years of them.
Sanctions are weak bs threats politicians brag about.
The invasion will mostly be a parade.
Moderate rush of refuges west
I guess these are my predictions.Last edited by Buffalo Bill; 02-12-2022, 12:08 AM.1982 GS1100G-

They are sending Kamala over to save the day. If Russia doesn't invade she will be hailed as a hero. She will then be able to run for President. If Russia does invade they will blame it on her. They will then be able to get rid of her. Either way they win. I think whom ever is pulling the strings wants a war anyways.Dale

I think she's doing what a VP should be doing in that situation. If she were an older white dude, I doubt anyone would be saying much about her trip.
Here:
While Harris's public appearance and effectiveness on a range of weighty issues at home has been heavily criticized, especially by the opposition Republican Party, on the global stage she is more often greeted as a trailblazer, the rare woman leader from the United States.
Biden has regularly urged his vice president to engage with foreign leaders directly and develop her own rapport with key U.S. partners, White House sources say, and the Munich trip is likely to be a major diplomatic test of her vice presidency and her highest-profile foreign trip yet.

I'd agree. Russia loves her tanks. Like Desert Storm if the ground stays frozen. Ideally, linger long enough to stack the Government with pleasing manikins and withdraw. But I don't think Putin will do it. He didn't need this long display. No need to mass as he did. They could have just kept rolling in. Therefore, it's something else. I'm inclined to believe it's as he says: NATO. Gas exports. Support for nibbling bits off Ukraine.(unfortunately, it reminds of hitler and Danzig and sudetenland) But he has a good point, from Russia's perspective IMO.
I heard a joke the other day. Europe will defend itself right to the last Canadian.Last edited by Gorminrider; 02-12-2022, 01:23 PM.
