    I have a '91 Toyota pickup that I got a couple of years ago to replace my '98 Ranger. One of the reasons I'm not on here so much anymore is that I've been working on this thing and snooping around the yotatech forums. I did all the usual maintenance stuff when I got it - spark plugs, engine + gear + diff oils, greasing everything, airbox mouse nest removal, etc. Then last year I pulled the bed, stripped and repainted the frame, new brake lines, fuel lines, rear brakes, leaf springs, shocks, etc. etc. I took it up to the North Maine Woods in the fall for a pretty great camping trip. This year I'm doing a full exhaust (including header), big front brake upgrade and fixing up the rest of the bodywork I didn't get to last year.












    1980/1981 GS450 - GS500 Cylinder + Piston Swap - "De-L'ed", custom seat, CB350 bits, 18" rear, etc.

      Bought new my 1988 Toyota Xtra cab with 7ft bed on Halloween evening, 1987. Over the years I told all the many who asked me if I wanted to sell it that it was going to be part of my estate sale. Then on 9/11/17.......





      Seven foot bed is the ideal for hauling 850/1100 GSs. You don't have to leave the tail gate down.

        I bought a 1992 GMC Yukon , the old 2 door type, from a friend who was the original owner for $2000. I got it with 209k miles. It has 228k now.
        I've never been a huge GM fan but, dangit, EVERYTHING works on this thing. It's way better than my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

          My truck isn't old a 2007 5.7 liter Toyota Tundra, absolutely bullet proof reliable, fast, comfortable great for long range trips.The mrs wants wants me to sell it as I'm no longer running my renovation business the $20K it'll bring in would help our travel plans but I know that the moment I sell it I'll need my truck. I'm sure there's a Murphy's Law that covers that scenario.

          When I was young guy starting out I always desired a 70's FJ40 Land cruiser but it was never in my price range even now a nice old FJ's is out of my price range, they've become very collectible. There's un plated FJ parked in a driveway not far from my home probably waiting for a restoration judging it's condition, I suspect I can't afford that either.

            I've owned 3. A 64, a 67, and a 71. They were all good stuff. My son did the Toyota band wagon for awhile, and we came away unimpressed. A 4 Runner, and a pickup. I owned a very nice Celica GT and a Tercel. Neither was especially noteworthy or overly reliable. He currently has a Nissan pickup that has been one expensive royal PITA, right down to the rear end.

              That is SUPER COOL!

              I see Toyota's use of rear drums goes back a ways...

              I love those early year Toyota trucks.

              My 2021 TRD Sport AT/DCSB has rear drums...but no crawl control...which according to engineers, is better to have than disc brakes in certain instances.

                Yes. SUV and trucks just work better with drums on the rear. Calipers that collect a lot of grudge are prone to lots of abuse and have a high rate of needing either constant servicing or premature failures.

                  Well my poor truck got an ouchy the other day....my wife was dropping some stuff off at one of my recovery houses where there is a tight alley ....she cut a corner a little tight and hit a post....she felt pretty bad of course....I have been looking for an excuse to fix the truck up and here it is...and the bonus is my wife can't protest too much lol...

                  So when I bought the truck 10 years ago it already had the silly 3" lift and I have always wanted to put it back to stock....now I have decided to do that and even go a bit lower....this won't be cheap to do it right of course but "I love my old truck..." lol
                  Once this is done (parts on back order) I have it booked in with the same painter that did my 82 1100e earlier this year.
                  Not sure of the colour just yet...would love to go a completely different colour but of course there is a lot more expense in doing door jams, under the hood etc.....

                    I’m sure would be easier getting bikes in and out at the standard or even lower height.

                        I had a 78 F250 for a couple of years. After I sold it, I bought an '87 Suburban 2500 that I loved. That was the first of three Suburbans. I also owned (and absolutely adored) an '88 G20 van with a mildly breathed on 350. One of the most practical vehicles I've ever owned. I still miss it, but a kid who wanted to go on a three month long surfing expedition after high school came by when its AC was out and the brakes needed a complete rebuild-and I sold it. He and his dad redid it and he sent some great pics from California and Oregon.

                        These days, working as I do on a farm, I have a long term plan to buy an early 80's F150 with the 4.9 to haul hay/feed. Using the school Sprinter van is messy.

                            I hear ya....but I don't like the lift....it was never intended to be lifted as it was done by the previous owner....I may just paint it exactly the same two tone colours and lower it a bit...

                              Yeah these old trucks sure grow on you....everything works in my truck...I spent money fixing the AC last year....new brakes, rotors etc...fuel pump, exhaust...I can't afford a new truck and buying say a $15,000 used truck scares the heck out of me....

                                Oohh, the lift makes your truck look perfect... unaggressively aggressive, not as dainty as stock and not too over the top like a stump jumper. Just a nice manly truck.... A thought, do what suits your wife, it'll make you both happy.
