      First coat of clear and perfect so far. Gonna wait till tomorrow AM and wet sand and lay another coat. Just got it in my mind to slow the heck down and tale lots of time on these.

              Looks good chuck. I would have just hosed on more clear on while you were shooting but too late now. Three nice full coats would have been plenty to seal the decal stripes with enough margin to do a little color sanding to remove dust nibs.

                Ed..Yes i was thinking 3 coats as well and wet sand in between each coat just to keep it super smooth and all that. May shoot coat 2 around noon tomorrow once it warms up and the sun has dried all the morning dew and ground humidity away. Then the 3rd after a few hrs of gassing out....depending on how i like coat 2 that is.

                  Chuck, just hose on the clear and be done. Every time you start spraying you open the possibility of something going wrong. There is no reason to sand between each coat. I you want a glass smooth final layer just color sand the final coat and polish.

                      chuck, even guys painting show jobs don't sand between each clear layer. Hose that $hit on there and be done. You never know when some freaking fly or bird or whatever comes along and blasts your fresh paint. And don't ask me about the time I bumped my tank and tipped it over just after spraying it. You want that tank to be wet the minimum amount of time possible. Plus, it's good to get the paint on the tank while the under layers are receptive so they all bite together.

                            You did the stripes to the original measurements you did in post 73 right?Remember there's variations at the factory.I agree with Ed spray the clear at one time then take care of any problems in sanding and polish.

                                Short of installing the chain guard and gas cap, she is done. The new tires I ordered should be here any day also. That and waiting on the tank badges to get here from Japan. Found some NOS badges on Ebay. the side cover badges are from Diablo Cycles ( formerly Reproduction Decals ).
