    Possible purchase

I have a chance to pick up a '92 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 for cheap, yes the magic word. The owner whom I have known forever tells me the stator is bad and he doesn't want to mess with it.

My question for the forum is: just how much work is involved to change this stator if in fact it does test out as needing replacement?

Thanks in advance for your information,

    Larry

Might be something you would want to ask on a Vulcan forum?

Have not seen anyone here admit to owning a Vulcan.

Never worked on a vulcan, but I can't imagine it's horrendously different from changing out a GS stator. Although it's probably not a bad stator, it's probably the R/R or battery, or something else in the electrical system.

Heres the service manual. Take some time and research the process. If it isnt too daunting then go for it.

I went to look at a 1600 Vulcan the other day for a cruiser. Nice bike.

Considering that it's a 23-year-old bike, I think the suggestion of a specific Kaw forum is good for pre-purchase research. A stator could be a fairly standard R & R, but a forum will (collectively) know the quirks and oddities to look for overall, and maybe save you $$$ or steer you from a possible dog.

IIRC they weren't difficult to do, much like the GS. The last I saw the stator on one was during an engine rebuild like 12 years ago. That said I can't even remember why I was in the engine. I think another tech had screwed something up.
