I liked the 900. It felt big, but not heavy to me, and it was softly sprung. That was great for me as canyon carving is alien to me. I liked the look. It didn't feel underpowered, but couldn't hope to run with my 82 1100EZ.

I got the valves out. Found another slightly damaged. You can see the little nick at about 1 o'clock.

Here's what the exhaust valve seats look like on cylinder #3. That's where the above damaged valve came from.

Typical valves, Intake on left, exhaust on right.

Holy Carbon! That thing must have looked like a 2 stroke going down the road...

Makes me wonder about the rest of the engine, as somebody obviously never changed the oil or engaged in any form of maintenance.

Yeah... that's not gonna lap out.

Start looking for a new head with valves. It'll be easier and cheaper than trying to restore that one.

update.... i just got this bike running last nite. haven't worked on it a lot cuz it's a pain to work on and it's depressing. i've taken to calling it "satan's honda". but it's running and i've ordered a battery and rear brake pads so that in a couple days i should be able to try riding it.

i really wouldn't have even bothered but it's in such nice shape. 17000 miles, looks like never dropped and new tires. and we got it cheap.
