I know it's illogical, but I have the irrational fear if I didn't put a new one back in, the bike would explode haha!Originally posted by rphillips View PostDang arc88, we may be akin to one another, I'm also still puzzled about this thing, but also do always put one in there.

It's out of a GS/GSX factory manual. These is a pdf zip file resource (possibly from Basscliff?) somewhere on this site, that contains a swag of factory manuals. I do think the purpose of the spring and plate assembly's is to reduce clutch grabbiness. The piano wire holds it together and limits the travel of the plate it captures.Originally posted by acr88_ View Post
Wow thanks! Where did you find this diagram? This is actually helpful for the rings installation.Last edited by KiwiAlfa156; 01-04-2023, 10:55 PM.82 GSX1100SXZ Katana

I've not found that anywhere in the research I've done. Nothing about anything it was supposed to do, or how, or why, or if left out what would, or could, happen, if left out. Nothing about more grabby or less grabby. Only thing I've found was put that little wire back in when reinstalling.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw.
