Rebuild and running with no C/S cover

I am impatient and want to fire up my new to me 1978 GS7 750/850 2V motor, is there any reason why I couldn't run it with no counter shaft cover? I would leave the clutch pushrod in place and fire it on the stand for only a few minutes. The countershaft sprocket cover is unavailable right now otherwise I wouldn't ask this question.

Just don't try to ride it without it in place.
Unless you have no further use for your left foot and can do without it.

Its not quite ready to ride, I just want to hear it run and check for leaks before I continue bolting it together. Thanks for the info I didnt see any reason it would hurt either. Eric, I have plenty of uses for my left foot. I just cant think of any right now other than it keeps me from falling over.....
