gs1100 engine on 850

      It's not points.. appears to be a stock electronic ignition with electronic advance in the ignitor from an 82...

        awesome ty...now this will work with my 850 coils/cdi box right? do i need anything special?

          I think your 850 will be mechanical advance... Take your side cover off & you should be able to see the difference. It's possible that you might be able to transfer the whole lot (incl the mechanical advance unit) over the the 1100.... I don't know but I suspect the advance curve of those two 8v engines are set very similar at the factory.

            luckily i have a spare off another 850..ill take it off an see...oh wise steve...do thou hath any input?

                lol well shoot...it will still be a few months before i get the engines swapped, so if anyone knows please tell me...ill bump up the thread when its close to the swap date...
