It's an 750/850 head. Has threaded bosses by the cam chain tunnel. Not sure if it's an early or late head though. You need to measure the intake port size.
Edit: Sync ports in the head means it's a '79.Last edited by Nessism; 05-27-2014, 10:13 PM.Ed
To measure is to know.

Hope you are right, purchased it for the exhaust valves. 79 & 80 GS750/850 valves are the same part number. The difference between the 79 & 80 would be the different carbs. I am thinking you are correct.Originally posted by Nessism View PostIt's an 750/850 head. Has threaded bosses by the cam chain tunnel. Not sure if it's an early or late head though. Mate hope you are wrong because valves are different part numbers.Originally posted by landshark View PostMy '80 1000G head has the same sync screws mate.
Just took out exhaust valve to compare with my old ones. They appear to measure the same. Only difference I think is a star shape beside the S & EX.Originally posted by tkent02 View PostWhat's up with the #4 exhaust valve?

Hope not, I have fitted the valves and they all appear to fit correctly. All after a light valve face grind.Originally posted by Flyboy View PostSo does my '81GED

Thanks all for your input, I think I would put my money on it as being a 1979 GS850 head. I can use all the valves as they didnt change throughout the years of the 850 only the head where the carb boots attach to the manifold.GED

Steve is correct, that is not a 1000 head, my head does not have the threaded bosses for the idle gear either.
Pretty certain in is a '79 750/850 head.
