First I tried an aftermarket gasket. That made the leak worse. I put some permatex on it and that didnt help.
After reading the oem was better.. I tried that. No luck. I took it to a shop where they seemed to know old bikes well. He informed me there were a few issues.. a locating pin was missing, something about open screws he fixed... another oem gasket went in. Its leaking while just sitting on the center stand now. I only ran it for about 3 minutes after I brought it home from the shop where it sat for 2 days. The good news is that it was leaking from the rear bolts. Now its only leaking from one... yay for progress.
I read that the torque spec is 8lbs? Is that right? Seems low. There is some hondabond on it that the shop guy tried.
Is there something funky about this location that is unique to 1978 gs1000 E? any additional input would be appreciated.
I marked the particular bolt that is giving me issues

Its oozing as we speak
