    First question:

Some valve noise is better than no valve noise?
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

You need at least some noise on all 16. My ears aren't that good anymore, so I take a half hour and measure them.

If you don't hear them you are burning exhaust valves. Especially with these tappet/rocker style heads.
        They are noisy!

It's better to hear them than smell them.
            FACT!

Yes, "tappy valves are happy valves", regardless of how many you have in your engine,
BUT WE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT BIKE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

If you can't or won't generate a signature that mentions your bike, please remember to add it to EVERY POST, so there is no guessing.

                  That's it.

But it's painted '83 red with a black engine (so my crank won't twist).

I just can't figure out how that black engine enamel keeps the crank from twisting. . Actually I'm just trying out my new signature.

Spray bombs can work, don't you know it's all in the preparation?

But even Charteuese can't hep much if the valves are too tight.

Chartreuse is a neon green - used a LOT for fishing lures.

I stand corrected. What's the French name for Baby **** Green? I need that.
