Best bike I owned for that was an R80 with R100 conversion, still running the original gearing. That thing was a stump-puller, as proved one day when the clutch cable broke and I had to get home in heavy traffic. Several unavoidable stops were dealt with no problem, then an idiot in a car in front of me was dithering around on a hill and I had to do the electric start in gear trick on a 20% slope.Originally posted by tatu View Post

From my memory just from reading around here, 82 and prior would be the bad ones and Suzuki made it stronger for 83 on. But I have an 1100 so that was what I focused my reading on. Not sure about the 650.
