Has anyone purchased an OEM base gasket lately?

    Folks,

I need to purchase a new base gasket for my 1978 GS1000E and I was planning on purchasing an OEM piece.

Do the "new" OEM gaskets use orings around the base of each sleeve? I remember seeing something on the board where these orings were eliminated with the new gaskets...

    Thanks!

You still need the pear-shaped o-rings around the base of the two outer rear studs.

You might be thinking of the large rectangular o-ring around the cam chain tunnel in the head gasket -- some of the newer head gaskets cover this area and thus eliminate the o-ring.

I do believe those 4 o-rings are still required.

This is exactly what I'm referring to - are these still used?

I'm aware of the rectangular oring and the two round orings around the studs, however, the parts fiche shows 4 large round orings around the base of each cylinder sleeve.

I have the OEM base gasket and o-rings for mine and I suspect they are still required with whatever P/N base gasket exists today.
