I've just bought a bike with the Magura unit on it (although I haven't seen it in the flesh yet!). There is a generic fitting kit that would provide the basis of a fit to a GS it seems....
    1980 GS1000G - Sold
    1978 GS1000E - Finished!
    1980 GS550E - Fixed & given to a friend

    1982 GS1100G - Rebuilt and finished. - Sold
2009 TE610 - Dual Sporting around dreaming of Dakar..... - FOR SALE!

I did a hydraulic clutch conversion on my GS1000 years ago. proper set up with 1200 Bandit m/c and slave cylinder. made a plate for the slave to fit, made a pushrod with a modified GSXR pressure plate "pusher", and used a gs750 pushrod oil seal.
I love it, would never consider swapping it back to cable.

Good to hear you accomplished the conversion. What effect did you see in the clutch operation?

I would say its probably a bit lighter pull on the lever, not much though, but a much smoother action.
Also the added bonus of never having to adjust it

I really can't feel much difference in the clutches on any of my bikes, cable or hydraulic operated...."BUT", I can't seem to get used to the hydraulic clutch on my "91" GSX1100G. Nothing drastic, but when taking off, a lot of the time I'll kind'f over rev the eng. before the clutch starts to engage. You'd think after riding this thing for 4 or 5 yrs. now, I would get used to it but just keeps happening. Never had this problem with any other bike I've had. I wish there was an adjustment to change something a little.

Agemax, I did read your conversion and really liked the way you did the whole job, if I was looking to do a permanent conversion thats the one I would go for, I might still do it anyway..

I have done another GS1000 conversion, using a Ducati slave cylinder. the whole thing fits under the stock engine cover (although it has to be highly modified, it all looks stock from the outside). I will post up some pics when i get chance.

I know what you are saying. I have a new OEM cable, but I might have HD. springs, just can't remember because it was so long ago since I had the clutch apart. It is still much stiffer pull than my gsxr1100, which I don't consider modern. My wife's Kawasaki enr650, has about half the pull. It would be really cool to do a Bandit style conversion.
