    cam chain disassembly

    I am trying to disassemble the cam chain tensioner assembly but I cant get the "body nut" to turn. tried a but of heat from a heat gun.. no go.. I dont have any sockets deep enough. Any tricks?

    If it’s the one I am thinking of, you can skip it. Are you following BWringer’s tutorial?

      Use a vise, get a good grip on the nut, then turn the complete housing.

        Thanks I had tried that, but the vice swiveled on its base.. disassemble vice, clean... and with a few tappy tap taps while applying torque she free'd up. Now just waiting on the tiny seal on the plunger stop to arrive...

          Agreed, you can safely skip it if needed and just pop the seal out with a wee screwdriver. There is an o-ring in there, but there are a lot of threads, the parts don't move relative to one another, and this never really seems to leak.

          In any case, looks like you got it loose!
