      Finally, PICS!!!!!

Well TCK as I promised here are them pics.

Look at this baby. The pic does it no justice though. The finish came out absolutely beautiful. Its amazing what a lil wet sanding and some rubbing compound can do. I'm gonna go back and hit it with a few more pass of 1500 and 2000 and then I'm gonna lay on a liquid wax that I use that is gonna set off the black

And an update. All my parts came in today. YAY. Stupid bike bandit didn't ship the nut with the sprocket and the washer. So that's coming later. I think I'll just cancel that though. And I'm pretty sure I won't use Bikebandit anymore. The shipping took FOREVER. I understand that I ordered near Thanksgiving but sheesh with how slow it got here you'd think they took the entire week off.

The saddlebags also came in. They look killer. Right now I'm working on mounting them. Everything's looking great..... except the seat. I went knife happy and really screwed up that foam lol. AH well I'm gonna take it to the upholsterer down my street. IF he's EVEN there. Which he isn't alot of the time. And have him put some new foam on and shape it like the pic I showed you.

AND I also picked up some cheap-o body hammers and dollies. Would you believe its damn near impossible to find metal working tools around where I live? I guess it must really be a dying art. But yeah I spent the better part of two hours today going to 7 different stores looking for them. In the end I found a place that had only dollies AND this starter set of chinese tools, only one left too and it was the last of the stock they were gonna caryy. But my god if these tools aren't horrible quality. Geez makes me glad that somewhere I know these tools are made by an american worker and they're actually putting effort into it. Right now though I'm just screwing around with them. Eventually I plan on getting good AMERICAN made hammers and dollies..... But ya know for being cheapo they're ok at what they're supposed to do. I immediately started to straighten out all the edges I screwed up with those sheers and I also start shaping little pieces of scrap. Its pretty fun

Sweet! I think im going to start with a sheet steel maybe 16g one first as aluminum doesnt like to bend in creases much...im sure i will f it up at first. You have some experience with stuff like this dont you Cole?

Thanks guys I appreciate the comments.

TCK, its all Rustoleum. I hit it with about 3 nice medium coats of primer to start with to give myself a nice base to work off of. Just the regular rusto auto primer. I wet sanded after I layed down all the coats.

Then I layed down oh I dunno.... like 6 coats of Gloss black lol. The first two I did back to back. Then wet sanded. Then after that I wet sanded after every coat. Mind you when I say coat I'm talking about two full passes over the tank. Which means they're nice and medium coats. None of that light coat business.

Rusto is tough and thick so it requires like a 400 grit to knock down all the orange peel. And then throw on the next coat. When all that was said and done for the final wet sanding I did 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 1000 again, then 1500, finally 2000.

On to buffing. Basically I had a bad experience with a buffer one time. I had it on low and it burned the **** out of my paint. I more than likely was using it wrong but it still turned me off from the whole buffer thing. So I basically hand buff it lol. Its only tank so its not that bad. I use 3M Rubbing Compound. Its not that turtle wax stuff that comes in the tubs. Its like a thick goo. Put a dime sized amount and buff an area 2 in x 2 in. I usually put alot and buff a big area at once to get it done faster but you get WAY better results doing small little areas. And for a buffer 100% cotton is best. I get a cotton rag and fold it and fold it until it becomes kinda like a ball with a hard surface and I go to town on the paint. Circular pattern. Doesn't work good with up and down strokes. And trust me when I say buff I MEAN buff. I put a good amount of force and really work the compound in there.

When its all nice and done I like to put Meguiar's Gold Wax. Kinda pricey but it works wonders. It'll actually restore a good amount of color to paint. And it provide excellent protection. But because its a liquid it doesn't last very long. Which is fine by me because that means that I'm inclined to wax more often which is always good

BTW the tank and front fender are painted the same way its just that they fender is very dirty from being in the rain and the tank is pretty dirty also. I'm thinking about doing the back fender but I think it'll look alright chrome
