Some of the guys on the DTT forum are paying 1000 bucks for alloy tanks and 3 or 400 for hammered alu seats...and they have to get them from overseas!

Bit of advice...wrap some teflon tape rount the plugs, when ya take em out sometimes they wanna leak..happened to me, and the teflon tape worked like a charm..or if ya want you can buy new ones from Z1..they even have aluminum ones if im not mistaken...but im cheap, so teflon worked great...lol

Dude I'm moving to Ohio lol. You know what I envy about where you live? The fact that no one in the world can blacksmith like New Englanders. You're so close to them, imagine the information that can be learned. Plus I've read that getting metal working things like forges, good quality anvils and all that stuff is easy to find and cheap to acquire because its in abundance in that area. I'm down for selling 1000 tanks lol

Yep I'm cheap too so teflon sounds dandy. Actuallly I need to stop being lazy and take off that gasket. I haven't yet because I don't want to wait for the replacement. And there's no way that thing is coming off without some damage. The PO JB Welded it on there.... Can you say DUMBASS?

Beautiful tanks for sure. but most of them are pushing OVER a thousand

Nevermind. Looking again I've changed my mind. The work is pretty sloppy. His welds need work and the metal is VERY distorted. Its bending light everywhere. I remember reading in one of my car magazines about this one guy who does metal work and is so good and finishes his work to such a high degree that it doesn't need that thin layer of bondo that painters usually put on just to get that super smooth look. You just paint and you're good.

You know speaking of cam ends and those round plugs I remember checking out this one dude's bike that had interesting cam ends on. They had fins machined into them to match the jugs. Only they were shorter. They looked awesome. Unfortunately they were already on when he got the bike so he doesn't know where they came from. I'm pretty sure someone machined them

yah see man if we could get that down pat we could make some bucks...Ive even thought of a economical way of making custom tanks using existing tanks and making facades for them. Adding shaped metal to them so you dont neccessarily have to worry about YOUR seems holding as the real tank is inside...

Thats a popular thing with the SOHC honda guys...they make alot of those for them, but ive yet to find em for GSs..finned stator covers, clutch and points covers, Some guys drill what they call "speedholes" in their sprocket covers..dunno how that makes it any faster except that they try to get rid of as much weight as possible..lol

                            Hammer and Dolly Set

GR stupid photobucket, please hold while I upload my photos elsewhere

                            This is the set

Heavy duty hammer, the round side is heavier. I've already learned that on my own. It knocks down bump and well pretty much any kind of imperfection alot faster than the other hammers

Hammer with an edge at one end. This'll probably make a very good tool for pound in edges or something

EH YEAH.... my girlfriend ain't coming near this one. She'll probably try to kill me with it

I had one guy tell me about this.

I think it would be pretty easy to make.
