That is how I removed mine also. I've had a Hagon on mine for two years and highly recommend it. With the shock and the 600 Kat front end and rear wheel (with radials) it handles way better than it did stock.Originally posted by tone View PostDee Durant '83 750es (Overly molested...) Before I got the Hagon I tried to make one from a '97 750 fit, had to mount it upside down and modify the bellcrank that bolts to the top of the shock. It worked but the shock was too long and raised the rear up too high, and made the chain rub on the swingarm. I toyed with the idea of having a new bellcrank made to compensate for the longer shock, but then said screw it and bought the Hagon.Dee Durant '83 750es (Overly molested...) Body parts ready to be shipped off for decals and paint. Cant decide on the engine covers ..polish or powder coat? Gonna tackle the carbs next while everything is off. Tail piece needs to be taken apart.

For engine covers how about polishing followed by clear powder coat for protection? You can make short work of the polishing if you have a stiched buffing wheel.

Regarding the paint work, the black area on the fairing is a vinyl overlay. I replaced it on my 750 with a new piece from a graphics store. If you can't find any locally, let me know and I'll see how much I have left.Ed

 To measure is to know.

 Covers

 Ed
I am sending all my parts to Reproduction Decals, they do not have this model year in there inventory so all it will cost me is shipping to Canada.

As far as the engine covers I have the stiched buffing wheel, but was considering having them powder coated in black. I have a buddy who can have it done for me where he works for free. Its just a matter of how I want it to look. I actually like the stock look..As always I greatly appreciate the comments!

 Shock

POSOriginally posted by posplayr View PostAnd is it eye to clevis or eye to eye? You might get lucky?

The middle one is for an R1 eye to eye and almost new. Too short for the 86 GSXR but just abbout right for the GSXR750 (about 300 mm )

Your pic didn't show up?..I am going to remove it this evening, I'll shoot you over a measurement.Last edited by Guest; 01-12-2009, 10:59 AM.

I get 325mm between centres with the shock off the bike
Eye & fork fitting but cant find any other shock thats a DIRECT swap although theres a few possibilities that may go with a little work

 Shock Length reference

The shock I was showing are all 1st Gen GSXR (except for the R1).

 go to

 pp pages

down the center is "shock length"

at 330 you have quite a selection. Just stay away from Gen 1 shocks they are eye-eye.

I was not able to find any specific recommendations or cross reference from here at GSR.

Yea, ask me how I know thathave learnt that some of the info on PP's pages is a little off, most of its ok but always double check for yourself or with other members mate
. GSXR 1100 axles between 86-88 was a bit confusing in another table. . GSXR 1100 axles between 86-88 was a bit confusing in another table.

In this case apparently a gixxer.com member claims OSS plagiarized the material from gixxer.com and now OSS gave attribution to that member so it is likely the same table at OSS as my other best source.

 Shock

I checked the microfiche for your bike and the GS700E have eye to eye with what looks like both rebound and damping controls built into cute rider controls.

I'll tell you now that eye to eye is more rare as that is also what I have on my GSXR 1100 and I was sweating it until I picked up a period Fox double clicker shock.

This was a bit of a fluke and unless you are willing to drop $600-$900 a very good alternative for you is likely a rebuild (if it can be). It might cost $300 plus the cost of a new spring (if required). They can even put the equivalent of a race tech gold valve in. Check with
long_av8r either here at GSR or more likely over at gixxer.com.

He is pretty much an expert on this. There are a couple of places that he can recommend for rebuilding Traxon is one of them I think. he will at least steer you in the right direction.

If you can get the stock one rebuilt with those stock rebound controls and add a gold valve for say $500 that would be the best choice considering the scarcity of the eye to eye, and getting the shock designed for your bike.
