Powdercoat is very resistant--but not impervious--to fuel. I had my tank powdercoated and have a shiny streak where I had some gas spill down the side of the tank and sit there until it evaporated.

If epoxy based coating tend to yellow what is it that the factories put on the gas tanks originally to protect them from fuel and give a good shiny coat?

Epoxy has multiple benzene rings that just hate UV light. Keep them out of the sun (like the the underneath of cars), and they'll keep their shine just fine. ,BKOriginally posted by Redneck View PostIf epoxy based coating tend to yellow what is it that the factories put on the gas tanks originally to protect them from fuel and give a good shiny coat?
