Painted and Mounted Maier Fairing

My bike came without the chrome triple tree cover below the headlight because it had a Pacifico fairing on it when I bought it. I eventually put a Vetter on, but when I took that off and went naked up front, I made a cover out of sheet metal to cover the brake hose junction. I needed a way to mount it to the forks, and I happened to have those signal relocators, so I used them for that. While brainstorming for a way to attach this little fairing without having to use the handlebar attachment method, it just dawned me to use those relocators. Call it a revelation...lightbulb coming on. I had to actually bend the headlight ears just a little bit where they wrap around the forks to have enough clearance to squeeze these through the opening.Originally posted by 7981GS View PostHow did you come up with the idea to use those turn signal re-locaters?
Genius!

My brackets use the top pinch bolts - very similar idea. The stock brackets are pretty horrible. Looks great

Thanks all for the nice compliments. I like the looks of it quite a lot. I had the bike up to 70 on the road today on my way to work for a couple seconds (short trip). Seems to be ok. I guess the real test will be on an extended ride.
Nice thing about the bags, Josh, is that I don't see them when I'm riding on the bike.
Now I have to decide if I want to paint the lids on the luggage or not.

Hi,
That is a very sharp looking machine. Great job on the fairing and mounting. You've got clean lines and it doesn't look over done or overloaded. Nice work.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff

The colors match pretty darn well in the pic's.
I like the gold pin striping to match the rest of the bike, it looks stock.
