Is epoxy primer the way to go?

OK. I've got my frame completely stripped and prepped with phosphorous prep & etch. Next weekend, I hope to get primer on it. Is epoxy the way to go? Do I then need a sealer before paint? I beleive the epoxy can be applied to bare metal. Is this correct? Sorry for all the questions. Mechanical work I can handle, never done any painting aside from small rattle can jobs.

Yes on the epoxy primer. Do you have a warm place to shoot the paint? I assume you are talking about a spray gun, not rattle can.

Thanks Ed. That's what I was looking for. I don't have a heated garage, so I'm hoping for another warm day. It hit 72 here today (humid though). You just never know in Virginia.

Warm the paint tin, warm the frame;
ideally you should spry above 68?F / 20?C so you should really be ok.

I assume you are using a 1,5 nozzle.

I had decided against that because the local guys all wanted nearly $400. But, now that it's been blasted, I'm guessing it would be cheaper for coating alone. I'll have to check pricing again.
