81 GS650L Seat Cover Lock Eyelet

Kind of an odd question, but I ordered a new seat cover from B&H Specialties. The cover arrived and looks good, but there is no eyelet in the back end of the cover for access to the seat lock. The original is a 1" eyelet crimped into the seat cover.

Any suggestions for finding such an eyelet and leather punch? B&H has not been responsive to my messages concerning the lack of the key hole.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Bummer that the vendor is ignoring you. I would press them harder. Try to get to in touch with the owner of the company. Most business owners want to do right by their customers.

If that fails and you're otherwise satisfied with the cover, a grommet kit for tarps would be my first guess: http://www.harborfreight.com/103-pie...kit-30037.html

The above is for 1/2" grommets but there must be kits out there somewhere for other sizes.

It is about 1" ID for the existing grommet.

Don't expect to ever hear back from B&H. They have your money, you have a seat cover, and that's the absolute end of it as far as they're concerned. They have an almost charming old-world resistance to giving a crap.

These look like they might work, and don't seem to require a setting tool:
          1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
          2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...
          Eat more venison.

Please provide details. The GSR Hive Mind is nearly omniscient, but not yet clairvoyant.

Thanks for the Amazon link. That item seems to have potential.

I was getting closer too once I learned the sizing nomenclature for the grommets with #8 equal to 1" ID.

Here is the one that I thought best so far: https://goldstartool.com/Extra_Large..._-10_sets.html

The concern on these ones was if they are metal intended for indoor use, how long will they last.

While it took me a year to get back around to this seat cover, I wanted to close the loop on the grommet issue. I did obtain the curtain rod grommets as linked above by bwringer. They worked well.

I ordered a seat cover from Pitreplica through Amazon. They have an incredible assortment of covers that they replicate including the Suzuki logo embossed in the cover and the grommets are included. For next time ....
