Need help with '83 GS1100E sidecovers
I need to repair the tabs on my sidecovers and need to know the lengths of the tabs. As luck would have it, all of the tabs are broken on both of the ones that I have. Can someone help and measure the tabs from where they connect at the sidecover to the end?
Thanks,Ron

You'll want the round ones.1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

I measured all 3 of them and they were all about 17mm from flush to the cover.

Thanks azr, that's what I needed!
I have some flat and round ABS plastic stock that I can machine to whatever dimensions I need, and then epoxy them to the sidecover.Last edited by 1978GS750E; 12-01-2020, 07:28 AM.Ron

Once you've repaired yours, it's helpful to reduce the stress on those tabs by popping the sidecovers back off using a long screwdriver with the seat removed to gently push each tab out of the rubber grommets one at a time. Also a bit of silicone grease on the rubber and tabs.1982 GS1100EZ, second owner, 11,000 miles
