You're better off just replacing it.

Cowboyup is right, you are indeed better off replacing it but at around 300 bux it is quite tempting to take chances at a rebuild.

Did ya happen to save Basscliffs welcome? All kinds of useful info including several vendors that have petcocks for many year bikes.

Found the rebuild kit at old bike barn.
did the rebuild today, it was easy. leaked a little at first, then stopped.
now it only dribbles from the nipple if I turn the tank upwards so that the fuel goes all the way to the back of the tank. then when I level it off, it stops. this is a gs100e 1979 tank, on the petcock the nipple in front is at 90 degrees to the right. the nipple in back is at 300 degrees to the left when looking at the petcock from the back. is this right? that is the way it was on when I disassembled it today.

                  Impressive!

I went through a ton of BS trying to rebuild the patcock on my 1st gen GSXR. For some reason the GSXR's use an oddball "dual diaphram" type petcock. I purchased an aftermarket K&S petcock rebuild kit, but it was wrong (even though the kit said it fit GSXR's) The kit is for the GS single diaphram petcocks only. I ended up buying a brand petcock assembly from Suzuki it was $122, not too bad
