    carb swap question

    hey guys, back again lol

    will the carbs off a 78 gs550 work on my 82 gs550l? they are a different style than mine as the do not have the diaphragm up top like mine do

    Yes they will work. All you have to do is change the cylinder head and airbox to match.

      as you've noticed, a different carb for a bike with a different head
      1978 GS 1000 (since new)
      1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
      1978 GS 1000 (parts)
      1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
      1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
      1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
      2007 DRz 400S
      1999 ATK 490ES
      1994 DR 350SES

            Easy to do and with the price of those diaphragms getting stupid it can help if you're on a budget. Carbs are easier to tune in for pods as well if you don't fit the airbox..
