    Petcock stuck

I have a 1982 GS1100GK where the petcock cannot be turned to the prime or reserve selections. is there a simple fix, something im missing, or is it just time to replace the thing?

The fix is quite simple -- pull out your Visa and order a new one.

The rebuild kits are poor-quality junk and usually don't work.

The petcock is a valve controlling the flow of an extremely flammable liquid a few inches from your crotch. This is not the place to skimp.

Or you can take it apart, clean out the crap and make sure it still holds vacuum...

Be careful if you try to force it free, you can't tell where it's stuck and forcing it may dislodge allot of dirt, corrosion, or tear/break a seal.

I used WD-40 sprayed around the lever and broke mine free, but I also had another petcock ready to go just in case things went badly.
