I've been reading around and seem to find different answers. I want to know what RPM should I do a carb sync at. I am reading some people say at idle others 1800 RPM or so. could you guys shed some light

Do it at the lowest RPM the bike will happily idle at...

I initially tried at about 1500 RPM with my Morgan Carbtune but the sticks just stayed too low on the gauge to get a good idea of how it was going.

I dropped the idle to about 900 and they moved a lot higher up in the Carbtune, allowing a much easier sync job.1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Idling un-synched at 1,000 can be too rough for the Carbtune, so I dial the idle up to about 2,000 RPM. Also, at the lower RPMs, you may not have enough room to adjust the slides because closing a slide to raise the vacuum may end up starving that cylinder.Originally posted by pete View PostDo it at the lowest RPM the bike will happily idle at...

Essentially, the lowest steady idle is best, but be ready to adjust the idle up as you synch.

I should've prefaced my comment by saying "for CV carbs..." 1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie 1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie
