first timer, a lil suggestion here for this great thread
it may be worth noting in the first post that the carb specs are often different for us bikes vs bikes for other markets
this may help avoid any confusion for readers outside the us
    thanks for your consideration

Okay, finally got tired of replying to PM's about the spreadsheet. Not that there were that many, I just finally got around to posting the file on the 'net...

hope this helps, although I haven't updated it since I first posted about it.

        find it here: http://members.shaw.ca/johnwightman/images/SuzCarb.xls

let me know if the link doesn't work.

              OEM Carb specs

I have carb specs for the following models. I am listing them as they appear for the European deisgnated 80's Suzukis. If anyone needs any other info for these bikes just "quick reply" and I'll do my best to help out.

              GSX1100X '81
              GSX1100LT
              GSX1000/1100SZ Katana '82
              GSX1100EZ '82
              GSX1000/1100SD Katana '83
              GSX1100ED/ESD '83
              GSX1100SE '84

I'd like to know if anyone can tell me what GS/GSX or other Japanese in-line 4 used the MIKUNI VM32SS other than the 82/83 Kats.

Many thanks, and hat's off to everyone who makes this the best GS site on the web !!

                The BS32SS were used on 550s untill 83, all 650s, 80 and on 750s, and 80 and on 850s.

Wasnt aware there WERE a VM32SS, however, as that is the designation used for Mikuni's mechanical actuated slide carbs. By 1980, in order to comply with US regulations, and other such truck, ALL STATESIDE Zooks were strapped with "BS" constant velocity type carburetors. I am pretty positive, at least in the states, that even the 82 and 83 Kats were as well.

Thanks for the fast reply and useful info. I know the GS1000 sported the VM26SS and VM28SS but wasn't sure what bikes would have carried the 32 as standard. I have a 1000sz kat from the UK and was trying to cross reference bikes that might have been given the same setup. I guess it was just the European/Brit Kats that were given these carbs.

                  Cheers

if you have these VM32ss carbs post up the specs just make sure to state they are UK specs. Same goes for any other carb specs posted. I know there were some funny aussie kat carbs used too.

According to my manual, the 1100 could also be dressed with the VM32SS as well as the CV Mikuni carb BS34SS. The VM32SS had the same specs as above and changed only in the following areas:

                      ID#..................49320
                      Main Jet............#102.5

It also shows a spec for a pilot air jet #160 where-as the 49310 does not. I think it might be an error though. I've only seen the PAJ on the BS34SS cv carb

For 1983 the same VM32SS carb was fitted on the 1000SD. The only change I can see is the ID# 49520

You all rule for putting together such a comprehensive guide to factory specs for the GS series. Quick question, can someone direct me towards a key on how to apply all the spec numbers that are posted. Some I get, some I don't. Rookie, I know it. Thanks for humoring me...
