Hard startingI have completely cleaned and rebuilt the carbs and some days the bike runs like a top and then other days, it starts really, really hard. I'm thinking my issue might be a vacuum leak even though the intake boots look pretty good. I haven't taken them off to check their gaskets though. Is there a way to test vacuum so I know whether to yank the carbs and replace the boots and gaskets?Tags: None

Better yet, check the valve clearance.

Hard starting, especially when the bike is cold, is a classic symptom of tight valves.
