carb slide snap ring removal tool
Trying to remove the snap ring in my CV carburetors resulted in frustration. The good news is Motion Pro (08-0279) offers a tool that will remove the snap ring without potentially damaging the slide. Bad news is the item can sell for as much $25!Tags: None -

$2.00 ring pliers. Grind the tips to pegs; works like a charm. -
or ... Craftsman 5 1/2" needle-nose pliers for $9.
If you do need to grind the tips on these, it's only just a little bit to round off the edges.

Silly me, I bought the tool. Works great on brake master cylinders, too. Grabs the rings the first time, every time.
I've got tons of homemade tools, but sometimes it's nice to spend the lousy $25 and get a tool I'll use the rest of my life.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I've tried needle nose pliers, I've tried snap ring pliers. No comparison to the Motion Pro tool. I'd get the real deal in a heartbeat.Comment

Its a little eassier going back together if you pull the needle down compressing the little spring and clamp it there until you get the snap ring back in. Works for me anyway, your results may varyComment
