Ashy build up in carb??I am cleaning my carburetors for the first time and one of the carbs has and ashy build up in it. The bike sat for at least 8 years before I got it. The ashy deposit is mostly in the carb body but there is a little the float bowl. I soaked it in Berrymans carburetor dip for 20 or more hours and the ashy material is still there. I am using a dental pick to scratch it off, but it is taking forever. What causes this ashy build up and is there a more efficient way to remove it?Tags: None

I did a quick glass-beading at fairly low pressure, followed by a trip through the dishwasher while the wife was gone....sigpic
