what is the best low tone muffler slip on I can get for my 1980 gs550e with stock everything. The cheaper the better.

If you want low-cost but sounds ok, look in an auto graveyard for a car tail box. In bike terms, they're pretty ugly, but give a nice sound. If you're lucky, you'll find an car which was scrapped with a fairly sound system still on it.
One of the best, cheapest, and ugliest XT500s I ever heard/saw used an Escort tailbox as its main baffle box.Dave
