    I'm done

Been fighting with my 850 for 3 weeks and nothing is working. Bike idles fine but as soon as it get some throttle is falls flat on its face. Carbs rebuilt balanced. Nothing seems to change it. Unless there's someone in the gettysburg pa area that can show me what I'm missing it may head to the scrap yard.

Did you use Nessism's procedures at Basscliff's site to clean them and were all orings replaced? What are the mixture screws set at?

Screws are set to 2 1/2 out. Didn't rebuilt the diaphragms and that could be the issue. Could very well be the issue and have the parts just not the tools. Just don't know if I want to deal with it any more.

Do yourself a favor, box them up and send them to member Steve. He'll do them right, replace what needs to be and you'll get them back ready to roll. Don't give up yet. Carb cleaning money is some of the best money spent!

Did you look through the Newbie Mistakes thread to see if you are overlooking anything?

            2 comments from me:
            1) how long have you owned this bike? (a little history would be helpful)

            2) by all means don't and I repeat do not take it to the scrap yard.

Here's the other thing. I rode it from my buddies house 7 miles away. Didn't run great but got me to my house. Git to my place and it became a crap show.

Alke. Have been getting parts for about week and been on it for about two weeks. So maybe a month total. I can fix just about anything. I'm just getting beat up and losing hope. When I got it it was varnished pretty good. Cleaned everything and rebuilding. Actually pulled them apart twice and cleaned the carbs twic .

All tuning done with stock air box. Would rather have kept it original.

This thread reminds me that carb rebuilds can be challenging but there are members here willing to do the work. It would be a $200 (total shipment & parts/labor) investment I would support.

Reading thru your other posts you never described exactly how you cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, give us some info, it will help diagnose. As well it seems your bike has a 4 into 1, possibly the PO did some changes to the carbs, did you check all the parts including the main needle to confirm their sizes, post them up once you do. Have you checked the electrics to make sure they are working properly? Like everyone has said, more info needed.

Hes down from the ledge. Hes got some reworking to do seeing he only dipped the carbs for maybe 2 hrs. My advice was to redip them for at a minimum of overnight and I told him I ( and most everyone here ) goes a full 24 hrs. Told him to follow the rebuild guide I linked.

I also linked the oring kit from Robert Barr. Old carbs need the new orings to perform right again. Also talked about the valve adjustments with him as well. Told him how to make a bowl fuel level gauge and to do that check also.

If he backs up the train and gets thing realigned he is gonna be fine.
