Took the carbs of my 82 GS 650e was pretty impressed how clean they where but while I was disassembling the #1 carb I noticed the float post where the pin goes through was cracked clean at the top. It looked like the previous owner had some Jb weld on it as a quick fix. Any ideas how to fix this the right way? I really don't want to replace the whole carb, any possibility of maybe getting it tig welded or another way to fix it? Or am I just looking at breaking the bank and having to buy a set of carbs?

I just did an advanced search on "broken float post" and many ideas came up. You may want to search it too and see which one you prefer.
The hole and pin one I saw looked interesting. -
Replace the carb body (if you can find one). There are various other mechanical fixes but they require skill to execute. I would not use any sort of bonding repair methodology if you value a lasting repair.Ed
