Need help with gs 850 fuel system

The fuel level should never get up to the float bowl gasket level. So if it's leaking from that gasket that means either the flow is set too high, allowing too much fuel into the bowl, or the float valve or seat is leaking.

I don't remember if these are CV BS3x carbs or VM smooth bores? If the CV Mikuni carbs the float seats come out and there is an O-ring that must be replaced or it will leak like a sieve.
