The intake has more of an affect than the pipe. How is it setup that end?

do u know what jetting youd recommend, and what do you mean setup? it has an airbox but i think im going to do pods since i have a set laying around and i cant find the frame piece for the oem airfilter. and then im getting told i have to rejet for a straightpipe

if you know that i can run stock airbox and straightpipe what should i run it with?

Install mufflers. Straight pipes disturb people and spread negative feelings about motorcyclists within the populous. Not to mention, the engine is designed for some exhaust back pressure.

I agree with Nessism but my point is that if you have a stock intake the exhaust does not have a massive effect on jetting... I've never tried open pipes. I suspect it might need 5 up on the main jets, a washer or two on the needle & a tweak of the pilot jets. Pods would require a lot more such as a full Dynajet kit.

Aside from the noise you'll also lose power, likely through the whole rev range.

or any exhaust tips i could fit on there from the headers, whats your guys opinions on MAC exhausts it seems like if i get a new exhaust itll be one of those because i can pay monthly which is much more affordable for right now. if i find a V&H i can do monthly payments on i might get that instead.

Is (what's left) of your exhaust original? If the original baffles were cut out, you're pretty much goofed as the originals are not serviceable. No personal experience, but H-D stock takeoffs are dirt cheap and can be made to work.
It sure would put a twist on your signature line.....

Not sure of your fab skill / tool availibity, but I did once build a baffle from exhaust tubing / fittings and slipped it into a Mac exhaust canister on an old 1100, which brought the noise to an acceptable level.

Harley mufflers are a good suggestions. From what I see in my area there are very few Harley's rolling around with stock mufflers so there should be tons of them available.

i think im going to be going for the exhaust system not the baffles/mufflers to slip on. not really mechanically inclined and i want to build this bike the right way since my DIY skills are nowhere what they should be to be doing those types of fixes myself, not saying its sketchy to do but me doing it would make it that way.

maybe ill mess around with the stock exhaust while its off and try to do something with it to make it work correctly.

I saw value in every suggestion except your idea of paying monthly for an exhaust system. "Buying" any motor vehicle on time is iffy, but a part? Got an accountant or some such family or friend you can run that by?

How about all you GSers out there? What say you?
