This weekend I purchased a 2017 SH775 from Ebay wintersrec. They accepted the Make an Offer
. The Shindegen Gold Wing R&R 5 wire I had installed never caused a problem.
As you know, the 79GS1000 came with separate Regulator & Rectifer. Back in 1982, the original set up smoked the wiring harness ground wire insulation and melted the orange/red wires while out for a Sunday ride in Alamogordo, NM. Didn't have a clue what happened then and was lucky to limp back to the USAF Base.Last edited by srsupertrap; 03-19-2023, 09:45 AM.Steve

Would I be able to safely run a lithium ion battery on my gs1000 with one of these reg/recs ?
already got a nice anti gravity battery that I just removed from my 1200 scrambler, be a shame not to use itLast edited by Paint It Black; 06-22-2023, 01:11 PM.Comment

Or you could just get a SH-232 or a SH-532 and have a bolt in replacement that includes leadwires. It will work just as well.1981 GS650G , all the bike you need

Yeah, up until the sh 232 dies after only 10+ years of ownership. Then it's time for the sh775
Of course this is a tongue in cheek response. Shortly after my purchase of my 79 1000, I bought one of those Honda regulators from duaneage. Straight forward swap and worked quite well most of two decades.Larry

Those Honda version Shindengen's are solid pieces, but they don't protect your stator like a SH775.Ed

I was under the impression that those batteries don't want to see more than 14 VDC. If true, the SH775 wouldn't be a good solution, because they charge at 14.5 VDC. What the SH775 does do well, is protect your stator from over heat damage. I'm unaware of any shunt type stator, whether 14.0 or 14.5 VDC that will do that.Ed

Nessism thanks that's good food for thought. I'm not married to the LI-ION, just looking at ideas to make an electronics box where my air box would have been and the size makes a big difference. My daily fun bike 03 Kawasaki ZR7S
