I had a couple of things I wanted to double check:
If for whatever reason the replacement advance also can't complete the 17-37 sweep should I set it for the 37 degrees at 2500 rpm, and just live with whatever it happens to be below 1500? That's how I found it setup, timing was off at idle but at 37 at 2500. didn't notice a starting difference between the two. but it's an unfamiliar bike at this point.
Any chance someone knows what the pictured ignition is? Had a look through the parts diagrams for the GS550's that use a mechanical advance Suzuki setups to rule out OEM but image search didn't turn up anything either and there aren't any markings.
Finally not strictly related to the ignition more to parts in general should I expect my VIN and engine number to match for a 77? the range for both are the 77 model year, last three on frame is 469 and 662 on the engine. I'm going to grab a p/n 33120-45021, since it visually matches what I have on the bike.
