1.) when engine is off you should have a short (use an ohm meter) between tip and ground.Originally posted by nastyjones View PostIs there any way to test the oil pressure switch on my 80 gs1100?
2.) When the engine is running a volt meter between the tip and plus side of battery should be zero volts.
If step #2 goes to 12V then the switch is bad (or you have no oil flow).
U an do the same thing with the sensor removed pushing on the disk when you think oil is flowing

The bikes not running. I can run a hot wire from the harness to the oil press. light & the light works. With the switch removed from the bike, how can I wire the op switch to turn out the light?80 gs1100 16-v ported & polished, 1 mm oversize intake valves, 1150 carbs w/Dynojet stage 3, plus Bandit/gsxr upgrades

Ground the switch housing and the light should come on;Originally posted by nastyjones View PostThe bikes not running. I can run a hot wire from the harness to the oil press. light & the light works. With the switch removed from the bike, how can I wire the op switch to turn out the light?
When you push the disk the light will go out.
