Uncle Mike's BIKE Dead on Chicago Expressway - Coil question

I'm sure everyone has done road trips at one time or another with something that is less than optimal. An oversight here or there, or running out of time to get this other thing done over there. Thankfully most of those mistakes don't cause any harm, so we come out the other side a little wiser, without any stitches or plaster involved.
This thread has provided a good learning experience. I know that if I ever break down, I'm hoping I'm not 1000 miles from nowhere, and have access to the GSR. You guys really are good. -
Guest repliedHe left on a 3 thousand mile ride with a bad chain and sprockets too?

Tell us that you are joking. PLEASE.

Well...Mike didn't get here until about noon because I gave him bad directions...
Fuse box change went great...but we realized his chain was toast...so we are swapping his totaled 630 for a spare 530 set I had...
It's not new, but it is serviceable...Leave a comment:

Guest repliedI will be leaving shortly myself... I'll check here again before I leave, just in case Bob wants me to bring anything special along.

Odds of me coming out are slim. Mrs. gbw has other plans. If something changes I'll let you know.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the offer Redman, but I've already found and ordered one off eBay...I have a spare fuse box, is the blade type with the connector on bottom. Is meant for 82 1100G, but does look the same as what baatfam Bob pictured.
I could contribute it to the cause, but being 150 miles away, maybe about only practical use would be to replace the one someone more local might give from thier bike.
Let me know. Could send out Tuesday.

Guest repliedMike,
Why don't you post when you are on your way to Bob's. When I get up (probably between 8-9:30) I'll check in and plan to meet you around the time you should arrive there.
Bob, let me know if there's anything you think I ought to bring along that you might not have on hand. I have a suspicion that your garage is completely stocked with necessities, though...

Guest repliedBelieve me, after the last week I'd be happy to sleep in a bit. I just didn't want to take over Bob's whole day without his say-so.Leave a comment:

I'll give Bob a call when we get out of church and see what you guys are up to. I probably can't get over there until after lunch but maybe you will still be working on it. Otherwise, no big deal. Don't wait for me. Do it according to yours and Bob's schedules.Leave a comment:
