Small Battery Options (no lithium TIA)

Yes, I searched and found buckets of threads on the smaller battery question. They all tend to derail into Shorai lithium discussions or end with links to battery listings that are no longer valid.

So here goes. I want to relocate my electrics under the seat, with a smaller battery that can mount sideways. Rather than drop $150+ on a lithium battery, I am hunting something in the AGM category that will lose a bit of size and can mount on its side.

From what I have seen, I need around 150 - 200 CCA. There were a few posts for a Parts Unlimited model that fit the bill, but the links are dead and other searches for that battery tun up something with only 35 CCA.

So what are the latest battery options that (a) provide enough CCA; (b) are smaller/lighter than the standard Lead Acid battery; (c) can mount sideways; and (d) are not lithium batteries?

As long as you keep your bike tuned up so it starts virtually instantly, you can get by with fewer CCAs.

The high numbers usually associated with the "needs" of a bike assume that you will have to crank it for a while occasionally.

Just look at any of the battery sites and go by the dimensions that interest you. As long as it's a 12-volt battery, you should be good.

maybe take a trip to a local dealer and look through the options for a recent modern superbike. (CBR,FZ,GSXR,etc).
they seem to use smaller batteries nowadays and some are mounted almost horizontal

I've had good luck with the Big Crank batteries, here's a page with a selection of AGM batteries that includes the CCA and dimensions.

Some people have gotten by with a sealed lead-acid (SLA) battery intended for a battery backup power supply.

I have NO idea which battery would be most appropriate for a motorcycle. You can get these for $20 - $40 at any electronics store and some real hardware stores. (Hint: bLowes, Home Desperate, and Meanards are NOT hardware stores.)

bought a Odyssey PC 310 Motorcycle ATV Battery in may andf have had stellar service from it, It is marginally smaller and a lot lighter than the stock battery for the bike.

It is a gel type but not any fancy li ion device
It was a mere 135 bucks cheap compared to li-ion

It cranks the bike over like a bastard and has enough capacity to make the coil relay mod look like a total waste of time.

I would highly recommend this battey as it is also leak proff, just cannot be totally inverted.
