    turn signal controller bypass

is it possible to bypass the turn signal control unit on a 79 gs850g?

    #2
Yes, but there is a LOT of effort involved.

Why do you want to bypass it?

I want to bypass it because my controller unit is bad. A new one is $300 and the used ones are $100 with about a %50 chance of working properly. what exactly do i have to do to bypass it?

Do you know for a fact it is bad?
What's it not doing? totally dead, no flashing either side, one side flashes only, or does it not self cancel?

        You can troubleshoot it.
        Here's a manual.

Once you download it, go to page 12-14 which shows you a block diagram of the circuit.
There's a troubleshooting guide for it on pages 12-16 through 12-18.
        Hope this helps.

I wouldn't bypass it until you know for a fact it is bad.

Where are you getting those prices? I have a left hand control I can sell you, give you a discount off that $100...

He's looking for the turn signal controller, not the left hand control.

No, I believe he's talking about the dreaded 1st Generation Turn Signal Control Unit. Item 26 in this fiche, $342.48 @ Boulevard Suzuki, plus shipping.

                They look like these.

What you don't see is all those units are bad for one reason or another. The tape on them is where I wrote what was wrong for each unit.
