1978 gs 1000 break lite

Just noticed today my rear break light doesnt come on when I squeeze my front break lever , unless I sqeeze it real hard ... light comes on with no troubles when I lightly rest my foot on the rear break peddal..
Is there any way to adjust the front break lever so the break light comes on easily with out having to two hand the front lever all the way in ?

Yes. Loosen the two screws on the brake light switch and move it around until turns on with less lever travel.

Yeah I tried that thx ... even took it all appart . Lightly sanded all the green off the copper connections in there , manually in my hand if I touch the copper connector to the 2 copper lines / pins . The break light comes on ..however when I put it all back together it doesnt work at all now !!
I thinking there should be aspring in the little black thing applying pressure down , but there isnt ....

Looks to me there is a spring missing ... that is aspring in there is it not ?

I dont get how that one hooks up or works ...

It replaces the banjo bolt on your front brake master cylinder and hooks to the wires going to the brake switch. You can use it on front or back brakes. The back switch doesn't seem to fail like the front, but might have to be adjusted as it gets older.

When your brakes break you can't brake and you might break something.

So you lost the little spring eh?

A complete new switch assembly is about $10, and it includes the spring and some shiny contacts.

Yeah I have no spring ... ill order a new one and be done with it !! While waiting for the part ill just make sure im using my rear break to indicate im stopping .thx all
