Looking for good advice on replacing headlght with dual headlight

I run one yellow headlight and one regular white headlight on my V-Strom.

The main reason is that it makes me more noticeable. All I want is that momentary "huh, that's weird" reaction.

After getting used to it, I've found that I have a tiny bit better spatial awareness at night with the one yellow headlight. This is a little weird and hard to explain, but I think basically my visual cortex has figured out that anything illuminated with yellow light has to be illuminated by the light coming from my bike, so I have a little bit more information about exactly where everything is and how it's moving.

For example, if I catch a glimpse of a moving white blob ahead of me with normal headlights, it could be a white horse a hundred yards away and lit up by someone else's headlights, or it could be a fluffy white dog 10 yards away. If I'm on my V-Strom, the dog ten yards away would be yellow, so I know for sure it's close enough to be illuminated by my headlights.

I've used one yellow bulb in my V-Strom for several years and have never had any questions or problems from the cops. I looked up the relevant laws in Indiana, and I'm in the clear.

Yellow headlamps were compulsory in France for many years - for some good reasons, iirc. It never caught on anywhere else though, and faded out there too.

I use one yellow in the FLTR, and the CBR900RR, always the RHS, yellow bulbs. The same ones mentioned by bwringer. and for the same reason, the WTF factor. I think I vaguely remember seeing them on early 90's round eye sport bikes, maybe endurance racers, always RHS. Maybe not though could have been a dream.

There are studies that support yellow light especially versus the trend to Bluish lights which is a very bad idea (unless maybe, you have compound eyes like an insect?)

It's a pair of 60/55W, so you'd be ok at cruising speed, but not in town. Exactly what I found. If you replace the bulbs with a pair of LED H4s you'd be fine.

They're fan-cooled and if you have sufficient space at the back of the headlamp shell, they'll be ok.
I'm veering towards getting some of this type, with the copper braids cooling..

The twin headlamps are totally unknown quality - seems a lot for a pair of cheap ones which might have rubbish beam quality and there's no way of finding out unless you buy them.
The 7" LED is much more attractive, but the seller doesn't show the actual beam on a back road at night on high/low, which is a bit suss, imo.
However, I see other Chinese sellers are now copying the 7" LED format and some might actually show them in use.

Thank you for some more great advice. I ran into a guy yesterday on a Harley that had a similar 7' LED. He said he loved it and it was bright but we were at a red light so I did not get to see the light on.

I will continue to research.

I was looking at your links...I expect you'll want black ones but for sure avoid the "chrome" ones ! I can see how bad it is from the included pix...

Can't speak from personal experience with LED but I can't see those in the first link, with that type glass showing any worthwhile amount of quality light, look a bit agricultural to me. Ones in the second link look a bit Beamer car but bloody expensive. I like a good light myself for the same reason and use Philips H4 60/55, you can do a search for the brightest bulbs and in H4, expensive Philips are pretty much the top's and with no alterations to your charging system. Do stay away from Blue or Blue tint for in my opinion just rubbish.
For day time riding, which would be at least 90%, I use high beam and only high beam, to be noticed and dip only coming on dark.
Let you into a secret! Met a car tonight at 8-15 gmt and he pulled down his sun visor LOL. I kid you not! mind you it was a bit overcast with quite a lot of cloud.
Met a tractor a few month back, he was seriously flashing all of his lights at me which I could hardly see as the setting sun was squarely on my back, in his lights, therefore I could hardly see them and in his eye's.
Just one more, don't think as I did, if you have a super bright light or drive with high beam it will stop idiot's from driving across you. It doesn't!
