    Can you test SH775?

The stator papers specify that the test for the R/R works on shunt type R/R's. Is there a test for the series type R/R's?

If you got a AC clamp amp meter to measure current in any stator leg ,you can see the sh-775 controling the current .

Thanks, I don't have one (clamp meter) but I think I'm understanding there is no simple test of a non-installed series stator like there is for the shunt-types.

If you take a no load output voltage from the SH775 will you get the 14.5V with a DMM or does it need to be under load to output that?

Don't run any R/R without a battery connected.

I have not tried it, but I would think that you can check the rectifier section the same as with the shunt-type R/R.

To test the regulator part, you have to have current flowing through either one.

The SCRs won't allow forward current flow till their gates are triggered "on" by their control circuitry - I'd leave them be and do amp test if I got curious.

OK, I was not aware of the components inside. Kind of assumed they might be diodes like previous R/Rs.
